Habeas Corpus Victory in Texas: Protecting Due Process and Freedom
US Helps Case is proud to announce another important legal victory defending the constitutional rights of immigrants detained in the United States. In a recent federal habeas corpus case in the Western District of Texas, the Court granted relief to our client, Azatbek Medeev, finding that his continued detention without a meaningful bond hearing violated procedural due process protections under the Constitution.
Mr. Medeev entered the United States in 2022 and had been living and working legally with employment authorization before being suddenly detained by immigration authorities in April 2026. After filing a Petition for Writ of Habeas Corpus, the federal court carefully reviewed the case and determined that the government could not continue holding him indefinitely without providing a proper individualized custody hearing.
In its ruling, the Court ordered the government to either:
Provide Mr. Medeev with a bond hearing before an Immigration Judge, where the government must prove by clear and convincing evidence that continued detention is justified; or
Release him from custody under reasonable supervision conditions.
The Court also emphasized that simply denying jurisdiction at a bond hearing would not satisfy constitutional requirements and could require immediate release.
This decision is another reminder that habeas corpus remains one of the strongest legal tools available to challenge unlawful detention and protect individual liberty. At US Helps Case, we continue fighting for immigrants and families whose constitutional rights are being violated.
If you or a loved one is being held in immigration detention without a fair hearing, our team may be able to help. Every person deserves due process and the protection of the law.
